Real Estate Minute | August 2018

Hello and welcome to the real estate minute. I’m your host Ivan Estrada with Ivan Estrada properties at Douglas Elliman coming to you from beautiful sunny Beverly Hills. And in this episode it’s about three innovative ways of personal transportation. So leave those car keys at home and let’s go. So the real estate minute is going to work like this. There are three segments, one minute each, three minutes total. Let the real estate minute begin.

The Bike Share phenomena has begun making its way from Amsterdam to all local cities like here in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica and UCLA. Now it’s super easy to use. All you need is this. You download the social bicycle app, you choose your program which you can start with $7, $25 a month, or a hundred dollars for the year. You open an account and then you choose your 4-Digit pin. Now the bike itself, it has turn signals, it has a light, it has a basket that holds up to 20 pounds and it’s super light and you could drop it off here in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, or UCLA. There’s tons of ride share bikes all over Los Angeles but also other metropolitan areas such as San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, and tons more coming very soon.

The e-scooter has made its way to Los Angeles, most predominantly the Bird from San Francisco. We got it here in Los Angeles in March of 2018 and it’s also hit other states including Arizona, Texas and it’s slowly making its way to the east coast. Now, it’s super easy to use. All you have to do is download the Bird app for free. It’s a dollar to start and 15 cents per minute and it goes about 15 miles per hour. So make sure you watch with rules and regulations. Now some of the pros and cons on the Bird pros being they’re easy to use, they’re inexpensive and let’s be honest they’re really fun. Now the cons are that people are not following the rules and regulations, they’re riding it on the sidewalk, not wearing a helmet and they’re also leaving them all over the place. So as long as we are following those rules and regulations, I think the Bird is a great thing for the Los Angeles County.

The urban transportation pod has hit the southern portion of England. These pods are supposed to make transportation a lot easier and a lot more convenient. Now, they’re super easy to use. All you do is walk up to one of these pods, go up to the windshield, enter your credit card and destination and there you go. The pods hold up to two people. They have Wi-Fi so you can use all of your devices, go on the internet, read a newspaper or just relax. The pods are completely driverless. They use GPS, ultrasonic sensors, and high-definition video to make sure that it doesn’t hit any pedestrians or gets into any accidents just like any self-driving vehicle. The fare for these pods is 2 pounds, which is about 3 dollars, and it’s estimated to bring in a million pounds in revenue this year alone.
