This beautiful national park is nestled in the deserts of California, about an hour away from Palm Springs. Home to gorgeous scenery, stargazing, and miles of hiking trails, Joshua Tree National Park is the perfect choice for your next getaway destination.

The Gorgeous Weather

Since the park is located in the desert, temperatures can soar well over 100°F at the height of summer. However, spring temperatures are usually far milder, and this makes spring one of the best times to visit this National Park.

Perfect For Wildflower Viewing

Gorgeous weather is far from the only reason you’ll want to consider visiting Joshua Tree National Park in the spring. A spring visit is also the best time to see some of the beautiful wildflowers that bloom across the park. Peak wildflower season runs through most of the spring and even into early June (for the higher elevation locations).

Joshua Tree National Park is home to a variety of interesting animals! Some of the wildlife you may be able to spot include deer, coyotes, and a wide variety of birds. For the best chance at seeing some of these gorgeous creatures in their natural environment, you’ll likely want to try your luck around dawn or dusk, when many are most active.

Amazing Hiking Trails

Joshua Tree National Park is home to countless miles of hiking trails. With the pleasant weather offered in the spring, it’s the perfect time to check some of them out. If you’re looking for a short hike with some gorgeous views, try the 1.4-mile Arch Rock Trail. For a longer venture, Mastodon Peak Trail is a 2.6-mile loop trail worth checking out!

Beautiful Desert Camping

Joshua Tree National Park is home to almost 500 campsites, and spring is one of the most popular times to stay at one of them! If you’re wanting plenty of amenities (tables, water, on-site restrooms with flush toilets, etc.), you’ll want to check out Black Rock Campground. Those looking for more remote options with fewer amenities can check out Jumbo Rocks Campground.

Annual Music Festival

Did you know Joshua Tree hosts a music festival each year? If not, here’s another reason to head to this gorgeous national park this spring. The music festival is set to run from May 18th-21st, with a variety of indie artists set to perform, as well as a variety of vendors and activities.

Incredible Stargazing Spots

Joshua Tree National Park is an absolutely amazing place to see the striking vastness of space above us! Its remote location means there’s less light pollution than you may be used to. Whether you’re an aspiring astrophotographer or simply want to enjoy some of the fresh night air, the starry skies above Joshua Tree are truly stunning.

Palm Trees Oases

Joshua Tree National Park is home to multiple oases, and a visit to one can be a great way to add a unique and memorable experience to your trip! The most accessible is the Oasis of Mara, located nearby 29 Palm Visitor Center, which features a half-mile trail winding around it. For those looking to enjoy a bit of a longer hike, the 49 Palms Oasis is accessible via a 3-mile trail.
