November 2017 | Real Estate Min | Home Technology

Hello and welcome to the real estate minute. I’m your host Ivan Estrada at Ivan Estrada properties at Douglas Elliman coming to you from Silicon Beach, the tech hub of Los Angeles. And in this episode, it’s all about the top 2017 gadgets and inventions that not only will make your life a lot easier, but it will immerse you into a new sense of reality. Well the real estate minute is going to work like this. There are three segments, one minute each, three minutes total. Let the real estate minute begin.

For all you cooks who want to take your kitchen into the future, these are the top 2017 gadgets. The first one is the Chef Jet which is the first food 3D printer, well actually a candy printer that creates candies within minutes. How does it do it? Well it grabs water and sugar and puts the frosting together in real time. And all you do is add color and it creates any type of design that you like within minutes. If pancakes are more of your thing, the Pancake Bot is a must-have at

$300. What does it do? Well creates pancake designs within seconds of any type of design that you like, your own creative custom type or you can get one from the template. And the last one is a computer that cooks for you. A company by the name of June has created the oven with cameras that will detect exactly what you’re cooking. It’ll set the right temperature and time so that you can set it and forget it. The price on this one is about $1,500.

Ponder this idea. How about using mushrooms instead of wood for building your next home? Well a company by the name of Ecovative from New York City is doing just that. Ecovative would create an eco-friendly material that can be pressed then cut and we have the strength of conventional wood products. Now that you’re using mushrooms to build your next home, how about splurging on self-cleaning paint? A group of UCL researchers say that the new paint creates a more resilient surface that is resistant to everyday wear and tear. And lastly how about generating electricity every time you walk through your own home? A company by the name of Pavegen is doing just that. With every step taken on these pavers kinetic energy is capturedandtranslatedintoelectricity.Themoreyouwalkthemorepoweriscreated.Currently, it’s only being used on a commercial platform, but residential use is not far away.

The future of VR for your home is here. A company by the name of Icarus has created a virtual reality workout that will take you from the gym to your own living room. Cardio will no longer be work but a fulfilling entertainment experience where you can lose those pesky 10 pounds. Now for you gamers out there a company by the name of Vicryl VR has created a module that could be attached to your TV or computer where you can actually move your hands and feet in the VR world. The depth sensing module tracks your full body movements in real time. Now, let’s take VR a little further. A company by the name of Unlimited Hand has created a console that will go around your wrist and it will actually help you feel everything you see in your VR world. The controller uses sensors and muscle stimulators to stimulate the appropriate muscle contraction and sensory feeling. With gadgets like these you’ll never have to leave your home ever again.
