Green Tech Innovations | Ivan Estrada Real Estate Agent

Hello everyone and welcome to the real estate minute. I’m your host Ivan Estrada with Ivan Estrada properties from Douglas Elliman coming to you from the Civic Center here in Downtown LA. It’s February. It’s gorgeous. It’s sunny. So let’s get right into it. The real estate minute is going to work this way. There are three segments one minute each, three minutes total. Let the real estate minute begin.

The beginning of the year is always a very popular time when homeowners start thinking about home renovations. Now if you have great plans for 2017 you can get a price, the right professional and also return on your investment on www.mycocoon.com. Now if you don’t have a big budget, here are three items that will give you a great return on your investment on your home. The first one is a Nest product. It’s a smoke detector. One it’ll save your life. Two it’ll save you about 5% annually on your home insurance premium and they’re only about a hundred to a hundred and fifty dollars. The second product is a home light sensor system. The amazing thing with this is that you can dim your lights from any location from your smartphone. It will also turn off the lights whenever you leave a room. Last on the list is Elon Musk’s SolarCity. They’re solar panels that look just like a traditional roof and they’re actually cheaper and it’ll increase your home’s value by about fifteen thousand dollars or save you about $1,500 on your utility bills.

Fighting pollution and saving the environment. A condominium complex in Taipei, Taiwan is doing just this. Towering with 40 units this building has 23,000 shrubs and trees as many as New York City’s Central Park and it also eats a hundred thirty tons of carbon dioxide every single year. This might not seem like a lot but imagine hundreds or thousands of buildings like this all over the world, especially here in downtown, Los Angeles. Now let me take you into the future. A company by the name of Arconic has created an eco clean system that eats up smog. How this works is it uses water vapor, oxygen, and light and cleans the building itself and the air around it. Imagine this material being used in some of those polluted areas in the entire world.

Will the world’s next mega city drip out of a 3D printer? Well, it will in Dubai. Can you imagine constructing an entire building with the push of a button? Dubai in 2016 announced that it wants 25% of buildings built by 3D printer by 2030. Well, the things that you’ll need is of course your software, your materials and the printer itself. With 3D printing capabilities, you’ll be able to build buildings much faster, reduce cost and also reduce the manpower. Here’s an example of Dubai’s first building that was built by 3D printer. It was built in 17 days. That’s amazing. Could you imagine building skyscrapers or even homes? Dubai has started to trend. Will the US hop on board next?
