Future of Los Angeles Transportation

Hello and welcome to the real estate minute. I’m your host. Ivan Estrada with Ivan Estrada Properties at Douglas Elliman. The face of Los Angeles infrastructure is about to change drastically. From underground to sky transportation, innovation will change the way the city moves, lives and looks. So the real estate minute is going to work like this, there are three segments, one minute each, three minutes total. Let the real estate minute begin.

The future of Uber is in the sky. Uber is designing air taxis to enhance the future of transportation ride share. The design of Uber air taxis will look very much just like a helicopter.

New cabin design will accommodate four passengers, and flight demos are expected to be conducted as early as 2020. Uber plans to offer air taxi rideshare to consumers starting in 2023. Services are expected to launch in Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and many more cities to come.

Elon Musk is building a tunnel underground for the future of transportation. Like a subway tunnel, people will take underground routes to navigate the city. These underground tunnels are being designed for electric cars, not trains. Cars will be able to navigate the city faster without the disruption of pedestrians crossing the street or other delays above the ground in street traffic. This transit tunnel was created under Los Angeles and available for testing just a few months ago. The tunnel allows cars to speed near 150 mph to their destination. Tunnel exits will be dispersed throughout the city to limit the volume of traffic in the next couple of years.

We discussed how the future of rideshare in the sky is approaching. With that also comes the future of personal flying cars. Four seat hybrids with wings could be pulling out of your home’s garage very soon. While rideshare users have no need for a garage, those who pioneer the personal flying car will soon have needs for larger garage specifications when purchasing their home in our future. These flying cars operate on electricity and batteries with ducted fans providing the thrust. Blackfly is creating a personal flight vehicle that is a drone-like passenger carrier. Announced in Silicon Valley, this vehicle is being developed to transform transit just like the plans of Uber and Boeing.
